Design
Samsung says the S22 and S22+ were the first S series phones with an Armor Aluminum frame, its strongest yet, and the S22 series the first phones with Gorilla Glass Victus+, front and back.
Lenses

Samsung says the Wide camera's pixels are 23% bigger than the Galaxy S21's, and Super Clear Glass cuts lens flare from lights. At night, video adjusts its frame rate to the light. Below are Samsung's night portrait samples.

Samsung says it widened the stabilisation's correction angle by 58% and sped up its motion sampling, so video stays smooth as you follow the action.
50MP
Samsung says Adaptive Pixel switches the Wide camera between a 50MP high-resolution mode and a brighter 12MP mode to suit the light, and can merge both into one photo.

Galaxy AI
Samsung says the One UI 6.1 update in 2024 brought Galaxy AI to the S22 series, including Circle to Search, Live Translate and Generative Edit. Pick a feature to see Samsung's demo, filmed on the Galaxy S24. Galaxy AI needs a Samsung Account, and some features need an internet connection.

Display and performance
The 6.6-inch FHD+ display runs at 48 to 120Hz and peaks at 1,750 nits, and Vision Booster raises colour contrast in bright light. Samsung says it was the first Galaxy phone with a 4nm processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200, depending on the market.
